Famous R&B singer Mary J. Blige is one of the proud former residents of Yonkers City. She was born in the Bronx but spent a considerable amount of time in Yonkers where she lived with her mother from the age of 7. She would later return to the city as a young adult during the early stages of her music career. Despite her many struggles that resulted from child abuse and sexual harassment as a child, she managed to rise to the top and established herself as one of the world’s best female musicians. James Brien Comey Jr.
The controversial former FBI director James Comey is a native resident of Yonkers. Before his appointment to the FBI by President Barack Obama, Comey had served in several senior public offices under both President Obama and his predecessor, President George W. Bush. His tenure with the FBI was short-lived and full of widely publicized controversies especially after his role in the Hillary Clinton email investigation.
